LOCAL people invested £100,000 in the co-operative wind turbine within the first 24 hours of the website going live.

The scheme run by Energy4All and Four Winds Co-op, needs to raise £3.7 million by the end of July, for plans of a 500KW wind turbine between Grimethorpe and Cudworth to go ahead.

Paul Rea, chairman of the Four Winds Energy Co-op said: "This project is driven by the desire to retain the benefits from renewable energy for the local community.

"With the help of Energy4All, we're confident that the £3.7 million will be raised within the 60 day deadline.

"Energy4All have an excellent track record in making things happen."

Those living close to the wind turbine, can invest as little as £100 in the project.
