AFTER 30 years Birdwell Playgroup have received their first outstanding Ofsted grade.
The pre-school on Sheffield Road has finally received the coveted grade, following an inspection in December.
Ofsted congratulated the school’s involved staff, and positive culture.
The report said: “Children are confident and eager to talk and staff ask questions to develop kids’ thoughts.
“Parents sing the praises of staff and the playgroup - they are really happy and fully involved with their child’s development.”
Nursery manager, Jessica Corson, told the Chronicle: “When we found out we were chuffed.
“We’ve been open for over 30 years and this is our first outstanding grade.
“It proves the quality of child care here - we have an exciting learning environment with staff that work hard.
“Our parents have said it’s well deserved and are very proud of our achievement.”
