A bandswoman will give one of the toughest and most emotional performances of her life when she plays in a concert in memory of her father.
Adele Ashton, 33, will perform in a 'scratch band' made up of players from across Barnsley and Sheffield who have come together especially for Sunday night's concert in memory of John Fullelove, who died in September aged 62 following a six-year battle with cancer.
John, a tenor horn player who lived at Barber Street, Hoyland, had played with Rockingham Band, Strata Brass, The Barnsley Chronicle Band, Stocksbridge, and Chapeltown bands, having played since the age of ten.
Adele, who used to live in Hoyland but now lives in Chapeltown, said: "It's going to be extremely emotional. My mum hasn't heard a brass band since his funeral. But hopefully it will be a fitting tribute to him.
"We're playing a nice varied programme of some of his favourites. "We're starting with the march Ravenswood, which was his favourite, and there's a horn feature, Hey Jude.
"We're hoping it will be a really good night for him." The concert will raise money for Barnsley Hospice, which gave care to John. It has been organised by the City of Sheffield Band Club and starts at 8pm at Niagara Conference and Leisure Centre, Niagara Road, Wadsley Bridge, Sheffield.
