GAMESHOW contestant Alan Bower scooped more than £2,000 after winning the ITV quiz show Tipping Point.
Alan, 54, of Innovation way, Wilthorpe, was shown winning the show, presented by Ben Shephard, on Tuesday.
The show involves four players who take on a huge 'penny slot' style machine in the hope of winning the jackpot. The more questions the contestants answer, the more counters they gain and the more money they win.
Alan said: "Gameshows are a bit of a hobby of mine, I've been on one or two before.
"On Tipping Point, we were asked all sorts of questions from every end of the spectrum - from history to space age."I kept getting the answers right and started to think I was in with a chance."
It was the third gameshow he has taken part in - the first being The Price is Right in 1998 and the second being The Weakest Link about five years ago.
"Anne Robinson was not a nice person, but Ben Shephard was fantastic. He was in stitches when I told him what I would do with the money if I won. I said I wanted my teeth sorting out, but I've got a gold tooth which was my mum's before she died and before that it was my dad's. Well, he set off laughing - he didn't know if I was joking or if I was serious. My mum was Dutch and it's a bit of a custom over there."
Alan has since changed his mind and spent his winnings on a family trip to Antigua.
He is now waiting back to see if he has got a place on The Chase.
