AN ex-army captain will mark the centenary of World War One by running 100 miles in 100 hours, raising thousands of pounds for charity.

Paul Carpenter, 42, will run from Penistone war memorial to Barnsley police station four times over four days to raise money for the Royal British Legion and the Care Workers Charity.

He will leave Penistone at 6am on November 7, and will finish at Barnsley Town Hall on November 11, where he will lay a wreath on behalf of the legion, the Care Workers Charity and the Special Constables, of which he is a special sergeant.

 

Paul, of Dodworth, is a former captain of the Royal Logistic Corps, having worked his way up the ranks form private soldier.

He completed postings throughout the UK and in Germany and numerous tours of Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kosovo and Northern Ireland.
