AN ARTIST who gave up painting professionally for nearly 20 years in favour of a 'steady job' has taken the plunge and set up his own gallery.

Shaun Rowley, 39, of Vernon Road, Worsbrough Bridge, has opened the Newburgh Gallery, on Dodworth Road.

He opened the gallery to sell his own paintings, and to create a forum for other local artists to sell their work. He also sells a wide selection of home and gift ware.

He used to earn a living from his paintings but left to work at a petrol station, and later as an events supervisor.
