A THURNSCOE care worker is considered one of the best in the country at her job.
Marie Danforth, 59, a care assistant at Dearne Hall on Ringway, Bolton, won the regional winner of the 'carer of the year' award judged by the Great British Care Awards and came runner up in the final held in London last week.
Television personality Jane McDonald hosted the ceremony at the Grosvenor House hotel and presented Marie with her trophy in the most acclaimed category.
Marie, of Saxon Street, Thurnscoe, said: "It was a wonderful night and a big experience that I won't forget."
Marie has worked at the home since it opened two-and-a-half years ago.
