THE son of professional footballer Frank Beaumont has been nominated in the Charity Fundraiser category of the Proud of Barnsley awards after running 74 miles to raise money for Barnsley Hospital and the Barnsley Hospice.
Martin Beaumont ran from Barnsley FC to Bury FC to Stockport FC - all clubs his father played for.
He wanted to raise money for the hospital, where Frank was treated and the hospice for the care given to Frank's brother Keith.
Keith, who nominated Martin, said: "Martin has gone on to raise money by organising charity events and fundraising dinners inviting former Premier League footballers like Neil 'Razor' Ruddock and John Hartson along with comedian Mick Miller to raise money for our town.
"In my eyes, Martin Beaumont is a dedicated person who has experienced close death in his family but his determination to drive forward and succeed should not go unnoticed."
Frank attended Hoyland Kirk Balk school and played for Don and Dearne Boys before signing as an apprentice at Oakwell.He made 117 appearances for Barnsley from 1957-61 and scored 41 goals.
