Barnsley fan Carl Durbridge who is serving in Afghanistan shows his support to ‘the lads back home’.

The 23-year-old private from Worsbrough, sent his best wishes to Barnsley players from his base at Durai, in the Helmand Province.

“People support us back home so we have to support them too,” he said.

“I’m a massive Barnsley fan. I hope we can actually do something this season rather than just fighting off relegation.”

He has promised to take Pte Aiden Walker, 21, from South Elmsall, to a game at Oakwell.

Aiden said: “I’m more of a rugby fan usually but I’ll go when I’m back.”
