Tom Bradshaw has been backed to net 20 goals this season although Ike Ugbo is the best finisher at Oakwell according to head coach Paul Heckingbottom.
Bradshaw has four goals in as many games this season – assuming the opener on Tuesday is awarded to him as expected – which takes him already halfway to last season's tally. Heckingbottom said: "I think he can be a 20-goal-a-season man at this level, for lots of reasons.
"He can score different types of goals – I still think his best goals are instinctive finishes. He's brave, he can put his body on the line to get a chance, he can miss a chance and still be in the same position to get a goal. That's what good strikers have to have. But we've got a few good strikers at the club now."
Heckingbottom said he almost chose Chelsea loanee Ugbo over Bradshaw for Saturday's game against Ipswich but went for the Wales striker for his superior presence from set pieces. The Reds have also brought in Frenchman Mamadou Thiam.
Heckingbottom said: "Ike has come in and impressed me with his composure. He's the best finisher at the club. You see that in training and in games.
"Thiam has probably got the most power in his shots off both feet so again he can score different types of goals. Then we've got the possibility of bringing another striker in.
"We want to have the possibility of scoring different types of goals with different players up front – whether that is one up front or two up front – and have different options off the bench."
