STAFF at a care home in Bolton are appealing for vintage furniture so they can create a room that stirs up memories for their residents.

The quiet lounge on the dementia floor at Dearne Hall care home is to be transformed into a 1940s and 50s styled room.

Items such as a fireplace, a sofa, a coffee table and pictures would really add to the room, claim staff at the home on Ringway.

Carer and cleaner Julie O'Leary, 33, said: "The home is obviously quite modern so we thought a room like this would help jog the residents' memories.

"Any help at all would be greatly appreciated and I know how much the residents would love it as they love to reminisce on the good old days.

"We can collect and I assure you your items will be going to a loving home and will be treasured for many years to come."We have had a great response to the idea and already have a few items already."

Items for a sitting room and kitchen are wanted.

People can contact the home on 01709 882091 if they have items that they believe would be of interest.
