LOCAL charitable organisations are being encouraged to join in this year's Mayor's Parade.
This year the parade, on June 14, has a new start time of 11.30am.
Out of the three award winners last year, two were charities, which gave great publicity to their work.
Barnsley Hospital Charity was awarded outstanding contribution to the parade, for its zombie-themed display. The Zombies spent the parade 'scaring' onlookers and handing out flyers to promote the charity's Zombie Run.
Mencap won the award for best float – its second consecutive win in that category.
Entry forms can be obtained by emailing towncentreservices@barnsley.gov.uk by calling 775728 or can be collected at the Cooper Gallery and Cannon Hall receptions or Elsecar Heritage Centre visitor centre.
