A TEENAGER whose mother has had two brain tumours has organised a charity ball to raise money for charity.

Courtney French wanted to do something to help raise money for research after her mother Kerry Beaumont was diagnosed with two tumours over the last five years.

Courtney, 18, of Carlton Road, Carlton, said: "My mum is one of the lucky ones, although she hasn't got the all clear yet, she is on the way to recovery and myself and my brother, Jared, and sister, Deni, have been able to have time with our mum that other children may not get."

Kerry, of Woodland View, Cundy Cross, was diagnosed with the first tumour in 2007 and underwent gamma knife radiation.

But a second tumour was discovered and she had an operation to remove it in September.

Courtney decided to raise money for Brain Tumour Research after using Kerry's experience.

The ball will be held at Chill on Market Street on September 5.
