MORE than 50 volunteers painted the town red, green, yellow, blue and purple for Barnsley Hospital Charity's latest fundraising effort.

The locals came forward to star in the charity's promotional video filmed at Locke Park for its upcoming Rainbow Run, which is being held there on May 18.

It was filmed by patrons of Barnsley Hospital Charity, Safehouse Pictures UK, and features key skylines of Barnsley, ending in a grand finale at Locke Park bandstand, which is the location for the run.

It saw the volunteers spend a day dancing away to hit song 'Happy' by Pharrell Williams while getting covered from head to toe in brightly coloured powder paint.

Katie Cartwright, fundraising manager for the charity, said: "The filming of this video has been an absolute joy from beginning to end.

"It perfectly captures the spirit of our Rainbow Run which is about having fun, an event accessible to all and bringing something completely new to Barnsley, all while raising funds for our fantastic charity."
