FESTIE fans will be in their element this weekend - as this year's Coalfields Festival sparks into life.

More than 40 bands take to the stages at Longfields in Darton for the outdoor event, and there looks plenty of intriguing new stuff to discover as well as the seasoned talent.

Each stage is run by local music lovers or event companies which brings an edgy, experimental flavour to this festival. The Black Vines alternative stage has acts like Black Rooster Blag Shag, Terri Shaltiel, Lauren Tate, Danny Smart and Del Scott Miller.

For heavy fans, the Noize Assault stage offers super tight outfits like Redmist Destruction, Fluffy Gremlins and Anaconda Vice. Even the names will pull in the serious rockers - check out Suborbital Lobotomy.

On the Burndown the Disco stage, there are bands like Two Skies, Weatherbird, Revolving Doors, Yellow Elevators and Euthemia.

There is even more on offer at the Studio 24 stage including McCarthy Vigil, Mad Dogs and Englishmen, Subject, Bruja, and the Hearts.

Cover supremos are not to be forgotten in the main arena with Shaun Collins and Shaun Banger Scott, Fiery Biscuit, Stellavision and Foenix.
