A WORSBROUGH couple celebrating their golden wedding had to keep their love a secret for a year because they were colleagues.

Peter and Josie Walters, of Eastfields, Worsbrough Bridge, met in 1962 when they were both working at Woolworths in the town centre.

Josie was a shop assistant and Peter had just become a trainee manager.

Josie, 69, said: "He came in for his interview and I fancied him as soon as I saw him.

"We started courting but we had to keep it a secret because we weren't supposed to see each other because we worked together."

Peter, 73, transferred to the Sheffield store, and the couple married at St Luke's Church in Worsbrough Common on May 18, 1964.Josie likes to paint in the kitchen and Peter does a lot of cooking.

They have three children, Sally, 49, Simon, 47, and Ruth, 45.
