A REQUEST has been made by cricketers at Thurgoland for a grant towards damage to the club's pavilion roof.
Heavy rainfall damaged the roof 12 months ago and repairs to half of it were carried out so the pavilion could be used last season. However, the club was unable to afford more repairs.
After last season structural problems with the building meant the ceilings of one of the changing rooms and the male toilets needed repair before the pavilion could be reopened.
An interest-free loan of £850 was secured to carry out these repairs to make sure the building was made safe and accessible, however this still only contributed to half of the work required inside.
Margaret Ducker, wife of club secretary Graham Ducker, said funding is still needed for further repairs on the roof and interior but the building is now accessible and safe to use.
