Travellers who moved onto a piece of land beside a Cudworth supermarket have left.

The group parked on the land next to Jack Fulton's frozen food store on Albert Street on Thursday evening.

It was claimed they told anti-social behaviour officers they only planned on staying in the village temporarilly.

Council officials were unable to take legal action to remove them as they were on privately owned land, but they moved on Monday.

Coun Charlie Wraith said: "We've been inundated with phone calls over the weekend, but can't do anything because the land is not ours.

"A gentleman from Pogmoor owns the land and he's allowing them to stay there.

"Our officers have been down and we've been assured it is only a temporary measure - one of the ladies in the group is pregnant and was feeling unwell."

The group moved onto Valley Park yesterday afternoon.
