IT'S the moment every bride can cherish for the rest of her life - but this bride's first dance was made extra special because her dad penned the song she danced to.

Laura took the hand of Australian Shane Cassidy, 25, at Holy Rood Church in Barnsley. They took their first steps on the dance floor at their reception held at the Mansion House in Leeds.

And it was a very special feeling for Laura who was proud to say: "My dad wrote our first dance song 'This Dance'.

"He has always written songs and has a passion for it, and I felt this was the kick he needed to actually do something with his talent rather than write amazing songs and then have them just lay around doing nothing.

"I asked if he wanted to write our song and he said yes, although I think he was a bit nervous, nevertheless, the finished product is amazing."I am so proud to have had our first dance song written by my dad, and I can't thank him enough."

Laura, an orthodontist, and her bar manager husband Shane have now returned to the resort of Sapphire Beach in New South Wales.

Back in Monk Bretton her dad Ian, a 49-year-old scaffolder, says he misses his daughter like crazy.
