Mr Jarvis, MP for Barnsley Central, has called for action to reduce child poverty as he launches a new report on the subject.

The report, which builds on his previous report into the issue, calls for a number of measures at a national and local level to bring down levels of child poverty in Barnsley and across the country.

He is also putting forward a Bill in Parliament that will set a legally binding target for reducing child poverty and require the government to report on what it is doing to meet that target.
