A BARNSLEY man who played a key role in running a "highly sophisticated" drugs network had his sentence slashed by top judges.
Paul Alan Lowe, 43, was jailed for 14 years at Sheffield Crown Court in August 2012 after he admitted two counts of conspiracy to supply hard drugs.
Lowe, of Arundel Gardens, Royston, was part of a gang running large quantities of cocaine and amphetamines throughout West Yorkshire, London's Appeal Court was told, organising couriers and distribution.
The drugs ring began to unravel after police made two seizures of amphetamines totaling 44 kilos, Mrs Justice Lang told the court.
His case reached the Appeal Court as Lowe's lawyers challenged his 14-year term with claims that it was far too long.
Mrs Justice Lang, sitting with Lord Justice Treacy and Judge John Bevan QC, said Lowe deserved credit for his guilty pleas.
"We have concluded that 14 years was too long in total...taking all matters into account, we consider the total should be 12 years," she said.
