AN ELDERLY woman living next to the Mount Tabor chapel in Wombwell says she is becomingly increasingly concerned for her safety.

Mary Thickett, 89, of Barnsley Road, says the building has been left to ruin since it closed around ten years ago.

Recent break-ins are giving her cause for worry and she now fears for her safety in the house where she has lived for 67 years.

She said: "I don't feel safe. The fence is hanging off and there has been umpteen break-ins. It used to be a thriving church that people, including me and my children went in."

The trust believed to be responsible for the church could not be contacted for a comment.
