The crew from Dearne station were called to Wath Road, Bolton-upon-Dearne, at about 11.30pm on Tuesday after two cars were set alight.

A Hyundai Atoz and Nissan Urvan people carrier, both parked on a driveway, had been torched in the arson attack.

The fire-fighters stopped it from spreading to a nearby garage containing acetylene cylinders.

It meant neighbouring houses did not need to be evacuated.

A fire investigation carried out found both were cars had been started deliberately. They left the scene shortly before midnight.
