WHEN it comes to fund-raising, these plucky ladies (and their hair stylist) know no fear.

The five women braved the shears when they sacrificed their locks to Grimethorpe barber Dave Nightingale, all in the name of Cancer Research - and they raised £1,300.

One of the women, Kelly Dixon, said the charity head shave came about because Linsey Gough - the girlfriend of Kelly's sister-in-law - was suffering from cancer.

Kelly said: "Linsey is in hospital and all her hair has fallen out. She's embarrassed about it so we decided to support her by doing a charity head shave."

Kelly got together for the stunt with her mum Susan Bunney, friends Shaune King and Debbi Lamb, and sister-in-law Hayley Bunney. Kelly's son Jack Wild joined in for moral support. They slipped into their onesies, got sponsored and also had collection buckets on the day.

"I cried when it was done," said Kelly. "But if it helps save someone's life, that's the main thing."
