David Flitcroft says Barnsley  fans must ‘make up’ with Scott Wiseman as the defender looks set to stay at Barnsley until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old was booed by Reds fans when he last played in the 3-1 loss to Blackburn on December 29. He did not play in the following four games but was on the bench at Ipswich on Saturday.

Earlier this month, Barnsley accepted a bid from Blackpool for Wiseman but the move broke down when Michael Appleton moved from Blackpool to Blackburn who then became favourites to sign the player. Rovers are not though to be interested any more after recalling Bradley Orr from his loan at Ipswich.

Flitcroft said: “The fans might have to make up with Scott.“They might have to forgive him and bring him back into the fold.“We have to respect and trust Scott more. If the window goes and he’s not gone anywhere he’s going to be a massive player for us. I  wonder if fans will accept that.”
