New manager David Flitcroft has praised the Barnsley board’s decision to reduce prices for the rest of the season but has warned his players that attendances will only rise if performances and results are good.
Adult tickets for every remaining game have been cut from £25 to £20 for members of the Oakwell 1887 club – which costs £3 to join – and £23 for non-members.
Concessions have also gone down.Flitcroft said the reduction was ‘great news’ but added: “There’s no point getting people into your restaurant if your food is poor.The lower prices will hopefully get people in and it’s now our duty to give them something to enjoy when they get there.”
Barnsley general manager Don Rowing said: “We know that getting more fans into Oakwell will be crucial to keeping us in the Championship. We have made the decision to reduce the ticket prices in the hope of getting stayaway fans to come back.”
