A FAMILY is determined that a happy and smiling little girl who died last year will never be forgotten.
A charity fashion show featuring dancers known as 'swans' from the TV series The Big Ballet, is being held at Holiday Inn next month in memory of Lily Cunliffe.
Lily, who loved having her photograph taken, died aged three of a brain tumour brought on by a condition which was previously thought not life-threatening.
Mum Mandy, 43, of Hope Street, Barnsley, said: "We wanted to do something to make sure she is never forgotten, and to give something back to the charities who helped Lily."
The event will raise money for Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice, and Levi's Star, a charity which supports children with brain tumours.
Lily suffered a condition called neurofibromatosis type 1, which causes small tumours to grow on the nerves, and showed itself as coffee-coloured spots on Lily's skin. The tumours were non-cancerous. Lily was being monitored and the condition not thought life-threatening.
But unfortunately Lily developed a malignant tumour in her brain.
Mandy hopes to raise awareness as well as money, in the hope that more funding can be put into the research of brain tumours in children.
Her granddad Danny Beevor, 61, of Willow Close, Hoyland, has organised the event, to be hosted by Capital FM presenters Simon Hirst and Jo-Jo.
