A health watchdog has been set up to give people a greater say in decisions about the services they receive.

Healthwatch Barnsley is an independent organisation and will operate from April to provide a stronger local voice for patients and the public across health and social care services.

Voluntary Action Barnsley has been appointed by Barnsley Council to set up and support the service.

Coun Jenny Platts, spokesman for adults and communities, said Healthwatch was about giving local people a powerful voice to make sure their needs, views and experiences were taken into account so they really influenced the planning, delivery and improvements to the health and social care services they receive.
