A HOT tub firm is planning to put ‘Barnsley’ back at the heart of its sales and marketing focus after flirting with a more generic name.

Barnsley Hot Tubs, based at Carlton, has never changed its name, and owner Shaun Pickles said he has always been proud to celebrate being from Barnsley.

But he did set up an additional trading name as The Luxury Hot Tub Store for the purposes of marketing the firm outside Barnsley - particularly at prestigious trade shows in the leafier parts of North Yorkshire.

“From now on we’re going to be pushing Barnsley Hot Tubs because we’re proud to be from Barnsley,” said Shaun. “People buy from people, and they like to feel they’re dealing with a local company, so the Barnsley name is doing very well for us. We’ve only been trading three years but we’re getting more and more referrals.”

The firm has just won a gold award at the British Pool and Hot Tub Awards, hosted by industry bodies BISHTA and SPATA in Coventry.

The award was in the category for residential hot tubs £7,000 to £14,000 in recognition for their installation an attractive eight seater hot tub with swim jets.

Sally Gunnell presented the awards on the evening.

Shaun said: “We are delighted to have won gold. This is a fantastic commendation for us; the fact that the entries are judged by top industry professionals with exacting standards is a great accolade for our company and highlights the passion that we put into every project.”
