ALMOST 200 houses are set to be built on the former Priory School site at Lundwood.

An application for 198 dwellings has been submitted to the council by Harron Homes, and includes a new access road from Littleworth Lane together with an open green space and pond to control flooding.

The school was closed in December 2011 as a result of the Building Schools for the Future initiative.

The site is now vacant and previous school buildings and hardstanding have been cleared.

The application states there will be a mix of two, three and four bedroom houses and 12 different house types from a two bedroom terraced house with parking spaces up to a detached property with integral garage.

Twenty of the units will be offered as affordable housing and will be spread across the site.

All properties have a minimum of two private parking spaces in the form of bays and garages, and visitor parking will be available.

Consultations with neighbours has been undertaken and involved a letter drop to several hundred nearby properties.

The application said to date, no responses had been received.
