A 'colossal cake sale' at Worsbrough Mill is hoped to have raised more than £450 for Help for Heroes.

The event last Saturday was organised by the Friends of Worsbrough Mill and opened by Barnsley East MP Michael Dugher.

Mr Dugher is also patron of Worsbrough Brass, and the band performed during the day. Volunteers including Ros Goulding, Katie Lakin and Trevor Pyne worked hard to make the day a success.

Mr Dugher said: "It was a great event and helped raise money for Help for Heroes, a charity that works tirelessly to help with the rehabilitation of our injured service men and women and support their families.

"The Friends of Worsbrough Mill do a fantastic job. They give up their free time to put on great charity events like this and ensure that Worsbrough Mill remains a great place to visit for all of us in Barnsley."
