Speaking to the Chronicle, Dave Scargill, 58, of Albany Close, Wombwell, spent 13 days in hospital where had fluid drained from a punctured lung and now has a metal plate and eight pins in his collarbone.

He is recovering at home following the attack last month. Dave suffered a broken collarbone, three broken ribs and a punctured lung after someone leaned out of a passenger window and shoved him off his bike with two hands. He is still haunted by the image.

Experienced cyclist Dave, who is a member of the Birdwell Wheelers and the League of Veteran Racing Cyclists, said: "I can't say if I will ride the bike again, I won't know until I try. I might still see the two hands in my mind."
