OFSTED carried out a visit to Netherwood ALC as an online survey filled in by parents expressed further concerns about bullying and behaviour.

A cross section of 46 parents answered 12 questions on the Ofsted website about how the £35 million school on Dove Valley Way is performing.

A total of 39 per cent expressed concerns about bullying and behaviour by selecting strongly disagree to the questions: does this school make sure its pupils are well behaved? and does this school deal effectively with bullying?

Ofsted made an unannounced visit in March after receiving complaints about the safety of children in the school.

They found then that the school was performing satisfactorily in its safeguarding but noticed boisterous behaviour from pupils.

There were mixed verdicts from parents on whether children were deemed to be happy at the school, with 28 per cent of those questioned voting each way for agree and strongly disagree.

A total of 61 per cent either agreed or strongly agreed their children felt safe at the school.

Ofsted's findings from their visit will be published in the next few weeks.

Principal Toby Eastaugh said: "Parent view is used to inform a school inspection, the findings of which are published in the final written report. The findings of the Ofsted report remain confidential until it is published and therefore I cannot comment at this point.

"However, I shall be more than happy to comment on the report once it is published."
