AN INVESTIGATION has been launched to determine how a 25-year-old Barnsley woman died.

Katrina Anne Clarke was found dead at her home on Pindar Oaks Street last Thursday afternoon by emergency services.

Temporary Det Ch Insp Steve Handley said the death was originally being treated as 'unexplained' and a police investigation had been prompted by 'a number of circumstances surrounding the death'.

Neighbours described how forensic officers turned up on Monday to examine the house, which was sealed off for forensic examinations.

Officers also conducted house-to-house and examined CCTV footage.

But detectives are now confident there was no foul-play and the death is not being treated as suspicious.

A post mortem on Wednesday proved inconclusive and an investigation has been launched by the coroner on Thursday to determine a cause of death and if an inquest is needed.
