The hit television show Mr Selfridge, starring Barnsley actress Katherine Kelly, has been commissioned for a second series.

Since launching last month, it has attracted a peak episode audience of 9.4 million viewers.

Kate Bain, at ITV, said: "Production have had some very positive conversations with Katherine about the new series and hope to confirm her as one of the key characters very soon indeed."

Set in 1914 in the run up to the Great War, Harry Selfridge has made his mark and established his iconic store.

Filming of the ten one-hour episodes is expected to start in Greater London and Kent in April and the show will be aired next year to coincide with the centenary of the start of the First World War.
