Dale Jennings scored a 25-yard screamer as Barnsley beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 and climbed off the bottom of the league.

Jennings' 52nd minute strike flew past Karl Darlow after the former Bayern Munich man had skipped past two defenders and cut inside to hammer home with his right foot.

Up until then, it had been an even game. Jennings had Barnsley's best chance in the first half but Darlow had tipped his effort wide, while Djamal Abdoun hit the post for Forest and Jamie Mackie missed with a short-range header.

The Reds had to defend deeply late on as Forest pushed for an equaliser and Abdoun's free-kick in the dying seconds was brilliantly clawed out by Luke Steele.

The bad news for Barnsley is that relegation rivals Yeovil, Millwall and Doncaster also won, but Danny Wilson's men are off the bottom as Charlton didn't play this weekend.
