A NEWLY renovated labour ward with seven beds and dedicated room for bereaved parents has opened at Barnsley Hospital.
It replaces the old labour suite and and the seven month contract was completed by building contractors CD Potter and Sons.
Three of the seven birthing rooms contain birthing pools as well as beds, and each of the rooms has adjustable mood lighting and an en-suite toilet and shower room.
There is also a three-bed assessment unit where midwives can assess a pregnant woman to see if she is ready to head to a birthing pool.
