A LADIES darts league will be forced to fold next week unless at least one more team can be recruited.

Judith Crowther has chaired the Worsbrough Area Ladies Darts League - open to teams from across Barnsley not just Worsbrough - for 35 years.

She said she will be devastated if it has to come to an end at its general meeting next week.

“At one time we had 20 teams, but at the minute we’ve got just five,” said Judith, 65, of Thornely Avenue, Dodworth.

“We had seven last season but two have had to pull out due to lack of members. If we got just one more we could keep going. We can run with six, but we just can’t run with five.

“We just seem to be struggling to get younger people involved and it’s such a shame because it’s absolutely great.

“We’ve got our meeting next week and I just hope people will maybe come along and get a team going. We could hold off for a couple of weeks starting the league if there was anyone interested, to give people chance.”

The meeting is at West Green Working Men’s Club, Burton Avenue, Monk Bretton, on Tuesday, 8pm. Anyone interested in joining or forming a team can just go along.
