YOUR name could be immortalised as part of a new campaign to sponsor a seat at Barnsley's Lamproom Theatre.

Barnsley Central MP Dan Jarvis is leading the drive to raise more than £20,000 to renovate the theatre's 187 "tired and worn" seats.

The seats have been in place since 2001 and catered for 250,000 theatre-lovers. Anyone wishing to help can sponsor a seat for £50. A plaque will be placed on each new seat with an inscription chosen by the sponsor, so they can have their name, family name, club or business permanently acknowledged.

The Friends of The Lamproom Theatre are busy raising funds for this major project which culminates in August. It will see every seat at The Lamproom refurbished in time for the opening of the autumn season in September.

Anyone wishing to register their interest in the Take A Seat campaign should e-mail their details to enquiries@barnsleylamproom.com or telephone 200075.
