THE bride wore a stunning red party dress, white ankle socks and was just five years old.

Exactly the same age as her smartly dressed groom - and in fact the same age as the father-of-the bride, the best man and all the bridesmaids.

This was the wedding of Caitlin Newton and Brody Moore helped and watched by their fellow classmates.

There were some grown ups in the congregation at St Peter's Church on Brinckman Street for the special wedding service - they were the real parents of the participants.

The special mock wedding was organised for the four and five-year-old reception class pupils at Doncaster Road primary by their teacher Andrea Smith.

As part of their studies about different wedding ceremonies and different cultures, school governor and local vicar Rev Paul Cartwright offered the use of his church and said he would officiate.

Teacher Andrea said: "All the children have loved every minute of it.

"They looked so lovely walking together to and from church and everyone really enjoyed tucking into the wedding cake and washing it down with blackcurrant juice in plastic champagne flutes."
