A MAN had to be airlifted to hospital after becoming trapped under a collapsed wall in a four car collision in Royston.
The crash on Sunday has prompted calls from residents for a speed camera and better traffic calming on Church Hill.
Residents say they are living in a 'haven' for dangerous driving and want a speed camera.
In the accident a red Volkswagen Golf travelling on Church Hill collided with a silver Skoda Octavia, causing it to hit a stationary black Toyota Celica and a white Vauxhall Vivaro van.
The Toyota was pushed into resident Charles Wilmott's garden wall and struck a 40-year-old man who ended up with his leg trapped under the fallen wall.
He sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital.Mr Wilmott, 50, said: "We were sat in the room and heard a loud noise. The noise turned out to be the Toyota coming through the wall.
"We're lucky that it didn't come though into our house. We can't even park at the front of the house because our wing mirrors get taken off by speeding cars.
"It's ridiculous."
A police spokesman said the Volkswagen driver, a 20-year-old man from Wakefield, had been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. He is on bail pending further enquiries.
