A YOUNG man celebrated the end of his chemotherapy treatment by completing a charity rollerthon in Wombwell.

Ben Charlesworth, 21, from Park Road, Barnsley, has recovered from acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and completed a marathon skate around the kart track on Station Road on Saturday along with 51 others.

Money is being counted up to hand over to the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The event was organised by Ben's younger sister Molly May Charlesworth, 16, as a thanks to the charity who treated Ben while he was receiving treatment.

Skaters from as far away as Newcastle and Manchester completed either 25 or 50 laps around the track.

The Barnsley Black Hearts roller girls also completed the marathon and it is hoped around £1,000 will be raised.
