Allo allo! Chip shop owner Dave Leatherland was left an eye-catching vintage accordion in a will - and is now in a pickle about what to do with it.

Dave, 57, of Mapplewell, was left the accordion years ago by an old lady who lived in Penistone.

He said: "At one point we took it to a music shop in Doncaster but he said it wasn't worth much. So it's been stuck under the bed for years until we had our latest clear-out."

In desperation, non-musical Dave has put the historic instrument on display in his chippy, The Harbour Fish and Chips in Hoyland Road, Hoyland Common.

It's proving a talking point with customers and one even picked it up while waiting for his order and rattled out a tune.

The Geraldo Italia piano accordion is likely to be from the 1930s and is an attractive old instrument ornately inlaid with what Dave thinks is mother of pearl veneer.
