A coroner has dramatically halted an inquest and asked the Crown Prosecution Service to investigate after hearing how a fit and healthy man died from a mystery overdose of insulin.

Self-employed joiner David Proctor, 48, never regained consciousness and died in a care home four months after being discovered collapsed at his home in Farm Road, Kendray, in April 2010.

His diabetic partner, Delia Caddick, claimed at the inquest that she saw him holding her insulin pen and moving it away from his stomach - as though he had injected himself - after they had argued after a night out.

But Mr Proctor's daughter, Emma, 24, of Larch Place, Kendray, told the Chronicle after the hearing he would not have killed himself.
