THE bowling alley at the Metrodome has reopened following a major refurbishment.

Improvements at the new look lanes include a new entrance and signs, new seating booths, a dedicated area for children’s parties and a ‘wall of fame’ where visitors can take photos to upload to social media.

The revamp took about six weeks to complete.

Richard Bailey, trading manager at the Metrodome, said: “It feels like a brand new facility. We’re very proud of it. The new entrance offers the biggest ‘wow factor.’ There was all of this energy behind the doors but not everyone could really see it.

“The changes now allow more people who come into the Metrodome to engage with bowling and has broken those barriers down.”

The completion of the work was celebrated with a VIP launch weekend where regular customers, staff and their families got the chance to be the first to try out the new facilities.

Richard added: “The work complements what has been done in the Rigby Suite, the recent improvements in the gym and the developments at Calypso Cove.

“The investment really makes the Metrodome a leisure destination for people in Barnsley and the wider area to visit.”
