A REPORT measuring Barnsley Council's performance shows that 76 per cent of primary schools in the borough are rated good or outstanding by Ofsted inspectors.
The council sets itself end of year targets, against which it measures progress on a quarterly basis.
The report also highlights areas for improvement, such as the number of missed bin collections, an increase in complaints to the council and an increase in tooth decay in children.
Coun Alan Gardiner, cabinet spokesman for corporate services, said: "These reports are an honest, statistical analysis of how we are performing to meet the council's three key priorities of a thriving and vibrant economy, helping citizens achieving their potential, and strong and resilient communities.
"Where issues are identified, we will look to address them, but I am hopeful that the positives demonstrate that we are progressing as a council, as communities, and as a town."
