Barnsley decided not to add to their depleted defence before the loan deadline passed at 5pm yesterday but youngster Danny Rose joined David Flitcroft's Bury until May.

With Martin Cranie and Peter Ramage expected to miss the remaining games, the Reds were considering bringing in an experienced centre-back as cover for Lewin Nyatanga and Jean Yves M'voto but did not find anyone. Bobby Hassell can also play at centre-back and was on the bench on Saturday.

Manager Danny Wilson said: "We're confident in Lewin and Jean. "They gave a terrific performance at Reading on Tuesday."

Ramage tweeted yesterday: "Scan not great, looks like season over. I'll fight in gym to play part again. Until then I'll be #1 fan, giving boys everything to help!"

Striker Rose, 20, scored both his Barnsley goals under Flitcroft, who was sacked as Reds boss in November and now manages League Two Bury.
