SISTERS Layla and Libby Davies may still be at primary school but they have already racked up an enviable record of success on the dance hall floor.

Both have become used to scooping prizes in competitions and six-year-old Layla has been voted the best in the country for her age group in their latest competition.

Meanwhile, older sister Libby, nine, has just jumped into a new age grouping so defied expectations by winning a place in the finals where she took a creditable sixth position.

Both girls, of Hawshaw Lane, Hoyland, compete in the International Dance Teachers Association events and the national final took place in Blackpool this year.

The girls had won through to the top level by winning their categories in a contest for the north west of England earlier in the year.

Layla impressed judges with a quick waltz, two step, paso doble and foxtrot, while Libby's routine included a two step, salsa, quick waltz and tango.

Their mum Mandy said she was enormously proud of their achievements and Layla took her trophy in to West Meadows primary school, which they both attend, to show classmates on Monday.

Their success comes despite the upheaval of changing dance schools. Their previous teacher in Leeds opted out of the IDTA contest, so the family now make a twice weekly trip to Denton, Manchester, so the girls can improve their skills.
