A LITTLE piece of Gawber history has been discovered by builders working on a nursery extension at St Thomas's Community Centre.

The Church Street building is being extended by Gemma Cooper to accommodate a 40-place nursery for two to four-year-olds which will be attached to Gawber primary school.

While builders were chipping away at one of the community centre walls in order to extend the building, they found a 'message in a bottle'.

Gemma, 34, said it is an EPS Wakefield and Co chemists bottle favoured by American collectors and sells online for about $100.Inside the clear bottle was a list of names jotted down on a scrap of paper dated February 27, 1970, including that of 'John Milner, forman' and seven others.
