A 21-YEAR-OLD was 'speechless' when her boyfriend proposed - by carving his message of love into a tree.
Jonny Hoyland, 27, who lives with Hayley Stewart at Inchburn Crescent, Penistone, waited until she went to work at Meadowhall on Saturday before walking their dog Ronnie, a Patterdale terrier, to create his romantic request.
When she came home, Jonny suggested another stroll up the lane with Ronnie and surprised her by getting down on bended knee next to his carved love heart which said 'marry me' with their initials.
Hayley, who works part-time as a cashier but is also training to be a teacher, said: "I was shocked and speechless. He got down on his knees and got out a beautiful solitaire diamond ring and asked me to marry him."
